You Guys Rock

Comments(7)

I haven’t checked my Google Analytics lately but when I did today I came across a surprising but awesome revelation! Chuckp3.com readers have finally embraced Firefox! For the first time Firefox was the most often used browser (with 53.4%) and Internet Explorer 6, aka the worst browser in the world, was used by just over 10% of readers!

Just another example of the Kingdom of God breaking into this broken world of ours. ;)

For those of you who haven’t switched yet, do so now and join the revolution.

Firefox 2

And if you just love Microsoft that much, at least do the decent thing and upgrade to IE 7.

DVDpedia

If you’re like me and have a large DVD library from which friends are always borrowing movies and you use a Macintosh, then you might want to check out DVDpedia. I found this little gem a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it. The initial setup was great, it was able to use my iSight camera to scan the bar code on my movies and add them to my library. It will keep track of the movies friends have borrowed and even lets you send them an email reminder to return them. For more info check out their site http://www.bruji.com/dvdpedia or browse my own collection by clicking on the blue DVDs button in the sidebar (DVDpedia will export your library to HTML).

The Genographic Project

Back in May Kara got me a test kit for National Geographic’s “Genographic Project” for my birthday. I got my test results back today. The above is the journey of the different Y-Chromosone markers in my DNA. After watching the video I learned that “my people” the Cro-Magnons conquered the Neandertals and took over europe just before the last ice age when they survived in Northern Italy. I’m a part of M343 (Halogroup R1B). Super interesting!

Good news from yesterday: We finally get a sneak peak at OS X Leopard! Apple’s new OS, which will ship in Spring ‘07. Check it out here. Windows users, take a look at what windows will be able to do in… oh five years or so. As usual there is good reason to watch Steve Jobs’ keynote, not the least of which is the introduction of the Mac Pro which replaces the PowerMac G5.

I Know Where You Live

Really, I do. Well at least what town you’re from. Google Analytics is one of my favorite time-wasters, and I thought I’d post a picture of who’s looked at my site this week. Someone in China checked out chuckp3.com this week, along with a Canadian and someone from Plano, TX! Who are you people who actually visit this site? Until Google Analytics came along I thought I had a few friends and family visiting, but apparently my audience is a bit wider. If you’re a regular reader and I don’t know you, leave a comment and tell me how you found my site and why you keep coming.

A Truly Universal Remote

Comments(8)
Logitech.jpg Have you ever bought a “Universal Remote” only to find out that it wasn’t? I know I have. So instead of three or four remotes you really just cut it down to two or three. Well look no further than Logitech’s line of “Harmony” remotes. I picked up the XBOX 360 version (which has the XYAB buttons added in). You plug this puppy into your computer (Mac or PC) via USB and then add all your devices on their handy online setup. Then you create “activities” with all your devices.

For example I have an activity called “Play XBOX 360” when I select that the remote turns on the TV, My XBOX 360, and the Sony Receiver (all while turning the TV and Receiver to the right inputs). Then if I select “Watch TV” it will turn off the XBOX 360 and the Sony Receiver and switch the TV to the right input. My friend at Best Buy said “if they made it, make it, or will make it this remote will control it.” So far he’s been right, and I love it! It will even control lights/fan if you’ve got that on a remote.

Widescreen iPod?

VideoiPod.jpgI was over at macrumors.com today and saw this. If it’s real and this is the next big things for apple (along with movie downloading from iTunes)… sweet.
