Mile High Hysteria

Mile High Hysteria

If you think the football season ends after the Super Bowl then you’ve missed the drama currently going down in Denver.  New head coach, Josh McDaniels and star quarterback Jay Cutler are fighting like a bunch of jr. high girls.  McDaniels apparently entertained the thought of a trade to get his protege from New England, Matt Cassel.  It didn’t happen, Cassel went to Kansas City.  But Cutler is insulted and has been talking about his “trust” issues with the team.  For all the talk coming out of the Broncos organization about “Jay Cutler will NOT be traded,” McDaniels apparently couldn’t help but stir the pot during his talk with Cutler on the phone yesterday by re-emphasizing that no player is beyond getting traded.  Ugh, just when things could have been patched up.

Sports Illustrated linked to an article from the “Mile High Report” which blames the whole thing on Cutler’s agent, Bus Cook.  Aparently Cook has a history of “cooking” up these dramatic scenarios in order to get big long contracts for his players.

Well it’s a business.  And aparently just as childish as a lot of other business out there.

Meanwhile the Chargers did right by LT and gave him a fair contract keeping him in San Diego.

Its Josh by the way, not Scott!

Funny, I just posted about the same thing. It seems to me that the two are egocentric children getting paid way too much money. They both are good at what they do and don’t want to be pushed in another direction. I heard the thing about the phone call comment, which to me really points out McDaniels’ youth and naivety. What a dumb thing to do, huh?

  2. Someone needs to remind Mr. Cutler that you have to win games to be able to have any standing in the NFL.

Cutler can’t be blamed for the worst defense in the NFL. Their 8-8 record doesn’t diminish that he became an elite QB last year.

Like junior high girls? Come on…how about like spoiled NFL players/coaches. What did junior high girls ever do to you :-)

  5. Zach says:

Good thing nobody cares about what happens in Denver.

Emily, maybe I should say like high school freshmen girls who, above all others, have a supernatural ability to make the smallest things in the world the most dramatic.

    I was just being dramatic…
