		<description>Man, 1904 was the most interesting--split straight across the North-South line.  The Democratic hold on the South I think had a lot to do with the fact that the Republicans were early supporters of abolition and in the years following the Civil War the &quot;party of inclusion&quot; (the Democratic Party) was still adamantly in favor of protecting Southern states&#039; rights.  Weird how that inversion occurred somewhere around the time of Reagan.</description>
