Chris Osgood... memories.

Osgood was great tonight in net for the Wings. So in his honor I think it's time for some good old Avs/Wings nostalgia.

Now that I live in the Great White North, I'm trying to understand the cultural entrenchment involved in hockey. Sorry, but I still find this barbaric.

Please enlighten me Charlie.

He may have been "good in net" for the Wings, but aside from the fact that this Osgood fellow somehow--by the grace of God and good fortune of gravity--ended up on top of the other dude once on the ice, he was, up until that point, get his butt thoroughly kicked. I think the ratio of punches landed was 5-to-1 in favor of the other guy. Hopefully, in the actual HOCKEY game they fared better.

Brian,
Great hockey is rarely barbaric. The Red Wings style of puck possession play for instance is incredibly graceful. That being said, the Avs are our biggest rivals and sometimes goalies just need to go at it.

Kaz,
This clip is from a game 10 years ago, Roy (the Avs goalie) is now coaching his kid's hockey team and got suspended for egging his kid into fighting someone else. Osgood didn't get into any fights last night but they're playing the Avs again so I just wanted to reminisce. I think the face that Ozzie took down Roy was more impressive than who landed more punches.
