It is even more sad because gun violence is becoming all too common in professional and college sports, which is why this event didn't "surprise" me all that much. Of course, we don't know the whole story yet but it did remind me of an article I read on SI.com a few weeks back that talks about gun violence and athletes, especially focusing on the issue of whether or not they need "protection."
