Dead Man's Chest

I recently got a job working at Screenland’s new location. Screenland is a local Kansas City art-house theater, and they’ve just opened up a newly remodeled theater build back in the 20’s. We’re opening the theater with the new Pirates of the Caribbean film. I hope you’re as excited about the new Pirate adventure as I am. One of the benefits of working at a theater is watching the film for free before its released. YAARRRRRR!

I concur that all KC residents should see "Pirates" here. The Screenland Granada is awesome. :) For all who are interested, it makes seeing a movie much more of an "event." It's not even really finished yet, but I imagine in the next few days it will be.
I agree with Kara. The Granada...it rocks! No matter where you live, drive to KCK and support what really is everyone's "local" theatre (pernounced Thee-ate-er).
I am hearing what you KCans have been saying and I give two hoots and a holler in defense of local thee-a-ters (thank you Scott).
Here in San Diego it's usually AMC or bust. Recently, I discovered an underground local theater group and we have been watching old 35mm films in an alley behind an abandoned wherehouse. The brick wall provides excellent screen-ambience for grainy black and white movies.
Occasionally someone is shot or Batman shows up to bust a nearby drug deal, but all things considered, I give ultra-local theaters like mine 4 out of 5 reels.
Next up: ultra-local-local theaters where you use the inside of skin flap to project 8mm films for families of mice. Now that's family fun!
Kaz your wisdom shines so brightly we are blinded by your words.
I'm blinded by Kaz's spelling. A "where"house? ;)
I always do that...when I was growing up I frequented the popular music chain "Wherehouse Music"...ever since then if I am not thinking I type "wherehouse" instead of "wearhouse." It's kind of like "there" and "their"--a more popular typo.
And besides, your beloved Charlie is the KING of misspelling...
It's WAREhouse. A house filled with wares.
And I correct Charlie's spelling sometimes too. He accepts it graciously ... or in an old lady voice filled with mockery, which I love anyhow.
Not as good as the first movie...
you live in kc? where abouts? I'm in Lee's Summit.
